3 Food Rules to Keep You Skinny through the Holiday Season

Let me know if this sounds like a familiar situation…

Your diet goes down the shitter during the holiday season, you gain a few pounds, swear to lose them once the new year comes, don’t, then feel fat and go through several yoyo diets until you get your butt in gear and FINALLY lose the weight months later through some serious bootcamp or insane amount of diet and exercise…

This is almost everyone I know’s story when it comes to holiday eating.

I’m here to tell you that you can go to as many parties as you can pack in, have fun, and still not gain weight. Here’s how:

1. The second you get a dessert (cookie, cake, pie, etc.), split the serving in half and either physically give the other half away or throw it in the trash. Many people are appalled at the idea of “wasting” 1/2 the dessert, but it’s either wasted in the trash or it attaches itself to your body as FAT.

2. Drink 2 glasses of sparkling water in a wine glass between every alcoholic beverage you consume. The sparkling water will help you feel full (hence you will consume less calories at the party), and the wine glass will help you subconsciously feel like you are still part of the celebration.

3. Before going to a holiday party, eat a quick bowl of whole grain cereal, skim milk, blueberries, and sliced almonds. This will  help you satisfy the carb cravings before you reach the cookie table as well as adding in a dose of protein which will make you feel full and help you eat less greasy finger foods.

That’s it!!! These three little tricks will help you keep the extra calories at bay and your waistline looking good! Now, just make sure you don’t cancel your workouts in order to go to all of those parties!
